From her About page: Hi there! Daisy Olsen here, I’m the WordPress Mama.

Way back in 1999 I took a course in website publishing. I left the course knowing a little bit about how to make a website  and no idea how to get one on the internet.  They sorta left that part of the process out.

Fast forward to 2001. My first child was born and I suddenly found myself home with more time on my hands than ever before.  The internet quickly became my friend, a broadband connection was acquired, and I soon discovered not only how to get a website onto the internet but also how to use freely available software to create amazing, interactive websites!  I was hooked.

Over the next few years I played, and tweaked, and fiddled with websites using the Post Nuke content management system.  None of the sites I created were ever launched but I learned a lot!  In 2006 I discovered blogging and the WordPress blogging platform.  At first I didn’t know what I’d blog about but I was hooked by the concept of blogging.  I finally decided to start a blog about my hobby – Knitting.  Unfortunately I spent far more time tweaking the blog than writing for it.  The site (KnottyDaisy) sits pretty much dormant today, but I hope to get back to it someday.

It wasn’t long before I found that my real passion was not in blogging myself. I really loved supporting the back-end of the blogging process and keeping those with better ideas to share than myself up and running! When I saw that a popular blogger in the Knitting world was considering a move from Moveable Type to WordPress I jumped in and offered my assistance.  Little did I know that it was the beginning of a journey toward becoming the WordPress Mama.

Years have passed, WordPress has evolved into an even more amazing Blogging and Content Management platform and my passion for it has only grown stronger.

Here is an interview she did for WebDesign.com:

About the website:

WP Hacks was originally created on October 1, 2007 as Hack WordPress, as a place to discuss all things WordPress.  In addition to featuring a large variety of WordPress themes and providing reviews of WordPress plugins, Hack WordPress was set up to cover the world surrounding WordPress, including the latest WordPress hacks, news, tips, tricks, and how-to’s of the popular open source blogging software.

Though WP Hacks started out as a WordPress fan site by Kyle Eslick, in an effort to give our readers as many points of view as possible, WP Hacks was opened up to support multiple authors in late November of 2007.   If you have a passion for WordPress and would like to contribute to this site (and get yourself more exposure), check out this post for details.

One year later, in October of 2008, this website was moved from HackWordPress.com to WPHacks.com in an effort to comply with Automattic’s wishes and not use a trademarked term in our domain name.
